I don't see this happening. The guys of 2008 (German, Derrick, Puskedra, and Lowe) all turned into super studs before the end of their freshmen year. This year's four are good, but they're not going to pan out to be 2008 good.

Saarel will be better than all four of the 2008 freshmen you listed.
Leingang and Ches. will be better then then Saarel is or ever will be just saying.
Is Oregon actually going to qualify for NCAAs this year? Lol

I'd say I agree, I never liked putting too much pressure on freshmen.
Bring them along slow, and respect their potential for post college careers.
McGorty will be better than all of them in four years. He'll be the top freshman this year too. Just watch.
Honestly, there is no way Leingang will be better over 4 years than Ben Saarel. Have you ever seen the kid run or workout? He's a complete stud. I expect very big things from him and McGorty. Cheserek is really good, but he's old. He doesn't dominate track like he does cross either. However, I think Ben gets the nod. We'll see them all go toe to toe in about a week from now at the Pac 12 champs.
You have to go by the individual not the team. I know you gargle Oregon's balls but you can't deny that Saarel is probably going to be better than Leingang
Watch out for HS class of 2016. They are off to a pretty phenomenal start.
Austin Tamagno - 4:09, 9:16, 15:07 (5K xc)
Phillip Rocha - 4:17, 9:17, 15:13 (5k XC)
Jake Ogden - 4:17, 9:18
Eli Krahn - 4:09, 8:58
Pretty cool they are all in the Pac 12. Conference should be fun to watch with these four. I'll admit, I personally view Cheserek as "older" but I really have nothing against him and will still consider him a frosh. Leingang seems a step behind in terms of times, but all 4 are running extremely well with the move up to 8k.

Blaise ferro from cba just ran an xc 5000 in 14:51 and ran 9:13 for the 3200 last spring. He should be in that group
If Cheserek runs 13:25, 7:47, 3:55, and wins NCAAs, then yes, he'll be better than Fernandez.

Those kids aren't even close to last year's class or 2008
Pretty sure they're referring to the class of 2016 AKA sophomores, those are impressive numbers for freshman (last spring).
Beyond the big four, it's going to be really difficult to measure up to the depth of the class of '08 given the achievements of Diego Estrada, Donn Cabral, Ryan Hill and Girma Mecheso. Rob Finnerty and Maverick Darling also have the talent to potentially make their mark in the pro world.
Oregon is my favorite team as well. That doesn't mean I have biased opinions about their athletes. Saarel is showing us his range. He is an aerobic beast with a strong kick like a miler. Edward pretty much just aerobically overpowers people in longer races.
Really wish Nick Ryan of FM was running this year. He was probably the 2nd best XC runner last year after Ches.
Agree. He just sprints the first 400-600m in races to build a big lead and then holds it like few can for the rest of the race. Saw him a few weeks ago in Syracuse. He looked fine, but could possibly be injured. I'm guessing he is either injured or skipping the season to gain an extra year to run. He seemed to race sparingly in HS and he may just be focusing on training without racing.
