isn't that the course where everyone's GPS watch said between 2.95 and 3.05 miles.
He also won it last year in 13:40.

What do you think is more accurate, USATF certification, or a GPS watch?
Why is he in races in which no one else can break 15:25?

Cause he's with Saucony not Nike?
I'm impressed he can run that fast all alone.
What is he training for?
Has nothing to do with GPS or USATF. It is a short course. Everyone in Charlotte has a "PR" from this course. No one in Charlotte uses their BIG South race time as their real PR. He ran really fast all by himself. That is impressive. It just wasn't 5k.
The Big South 5K is a USATF Certified event #NC10084PH
"The first half of the scenic and shady loop course will consist of rolling hills while the second half is primarily downhill and flat. (Downhill finish. One of the fastest 5K courses in the South!) The race course is USAT&F certified and one water stop will be provided."
Wonder if Fam stopped for water?
Profile available too on the site.
So is Cupid's Cup (Charlotte) and again, everyone knows it's short. USATF certified basically means they registered the race and had it measured. If they forget where the start line is or they need to move it or the finish area doesn't work well or there is some other reason it is adjusted, they don't get it re-certified. They just run the race. It's always great to have a race with really fast times to draw people (And $$$$) looking for a "PR".
And when was the last time USATF in NC cared about something being accurate? Check out the USATF state records. Most of them are completely inaccurate. And guess what? Fam's 5k time (from last year's BIG South) is not on the updated list. So, do you think they care if the Big South 5k course is accurate?

I wonder why Fam's 13:40 at the USATF certified 2012 Big South 5k didn't replace the state record for the open 5k? It's a certified course and Fam was obviously a member of USATF. Hmmmmm......

Quit posting about yourself Fam...no one cares about that list except you. Keep beating the hobby joggers and try to hold on to your big fish in a small pond status while avoiding any real competition.
Has anyone else actually looked up their State's road race records?

From what I've heard, open records aren't ratified until the course is re-certified. I've also heard from another NC elite that this course is widely regarded as being short.

That guy you quoted is clearly anti-Fam. Reading comprehension fail. That's okay, that's pretty standard on LetsRun.

They probably mean more to age groupers than people like Fam.

You seem to be stupid. The other poster's point was clearly that the course is not legit. He is saying that if Fam's run is not counted as the record, it must be because of an issue with the course length. I'm surprised you didn't understand this.
FAM BAM!
Pretty great shape for October.

Amazing, right?
^Familigiti's post above is one of the dumbest I've seen here in a while. VERY impressive.
