Thirty years ago I bought into the hype about how running in light shoes led to injuries. I used to train in heavy shoes and raced in racing flats.
At that time I liked to have 25-50 miles on the shoes before wearing them in an important race.
The last four years I've been training and racing in the same shoes. (Nike Frees & Saucony Kinvaras)
I've got an upcoming half marathon and am wondering: How many miles should I have on the new shoes before wearing them in the race?
I figured that it probably takes about 25 miles for the shoes to form to the bottoms of my feet. (Those indentations) I think brand new shoes would cause blisters, but I want as few miles on them as possible.
