If you've ever owned a Timex watch, you know how easy the bands can break. Worse, they cannot be replaced by the user so you have to replace the entire watch. I finally figured out how to fix them. If you have ideas on how to fix some type of running gear, add it to this thread.
The watch band that holds the strap in place usually breaks first. Don't bother trying to fix it. Replace it instead bu cutting a 1/2 inch section from a 700x23mm bicycle tube. Slide it over the clip. It's a perfect fit. Viola, you have a new band.
The strap breaks next. To fix it, first clean the strap with alcohol so the glue will stick. Attach the two pieces with super glue. Allow it to dry for a couple hours. This will break off quickly, so you're not finished yet. Next, cover the entire strap a 1/2 inch in each direction with liquid rubber tape. Let that dry overnight. This fix works best if you catch it before the band completely breaks off.
So, what's your best fix for running gear?
