I really feel for Jearl. I read this today. She deserves a spot.
"After running a courageous 800 meter final at the Athens Olympics in 1:57.27 and being on the USA's last 3 Olympic 4x400 and every World Championship 4x400 relay team since 1991, Jearl Miles-Clark was not selected to be in the relay
pool for the 4x400 in Athens. Brooks Johnson, coordinator of the US Relay pool and Sue Humphrey, the Womens Head Olympic coach made the disrespectful and
deceiving call. The reasons cited were that "they wanted to give the young people experience and to use fresher legs."
Jearl's career in the relays has been proven over time with 12 world championship medals, 2 Olympic Gold medals and 1 Silver. She has split between 48 and 49 on every relay. She has been the staple of every 4x400 relay for the United
States for the last decade and continues to show world-class form.
With Jearl's proven career and stellar background in the 400 meters, it is bewildering that a coaching staff would leave off such a world-class athlete who has done everything that USA Track and Field has asked of her. Throughout her career, Jearl has been a consumate professional and was devastated by the news released today in Athens."
