I think mine is about 2400m. A six lap race. The mile is too fast for me and the two mile is too slow.
what is YOUR ideal distance?

71,239 metres, scientifically tested
Mile, 5K, 10K, HM, maybe even marathon. Basically any distance that people are willing to compete.
Probably about 500-700 meters.
the shortest possible distance where i still have a shot at a win.
I seemed to do best at 10,000m.
4999 meters. But boy do I suck at the 5k

Me too. For most competitive fields that's around 0 meters.
2400m
2000 SC. 3000 was a little too long for me.
30k is hands down the best distance for me. My PR isn't that great but I've only run it a couple of time in a race (1:45.15).
TV to refrigerator is 3 meters. Round and back makes 6. So it's 6.
Well I'm not very good at the Mile or the 5k, so I'd have to say the 3k for sure.
3K
I always start to hurt after the mile and half mark in 5Ks.
Probably 1200m. At 6'2, 160 I always fancied myself a Bannister/Wottle/Cram type of guy. In H.S. I excelled in even-paced 800s (a fast first lap would kill me) and the last 400 of dawdling 1600s. 3rd in the state in both, but oh, the 1200...
600m.
In High School, with 49.high/50.low 400m speed I just didn't have the wheels to be really good at the 400m (which basically requires sub-11 100m capability). But I ran 1:54-1:57 for the 800m so I had good speed endurance, yet the last 150m would always be dreadfully slow and painful, with me getting passed by all the guys with better endurance. (I'm talking 34s for the last 200 on average) pacing was not my issue, either way I tried it that last 200 of a race would be horrible and I would get passed by any good runner.
Most really fast 400 guys die as soon as they cross the finish line/would die shortly after, but with combined my endurance and speed had there been a 600m event at the HS state level I no doubt would have won it, taking it out in 52 or so and having the speed to finish strong with a 27 or so in sub 1:20.
in general, about 200m less than whatever distance i'm racing on that day.
350m, because I believe I have some type of breathing problem that kicks in after 350, unless I'm running a 500m...
15k or 10 milers. 10k is the shortest i'll race. Anything longer than 10 miles, I psychologically start going downhill.
3k/5k! Good stuff. Too bad there aren't many outdoor 3k's in my situation.
