OK, I was going to wait until 2008 but I'm not that patient so I'm starting to train my butt off to see how fast I can bust 26.2 by next October.
First, how fast do those of you in the 2:22-2:29 range run your "easy miles", like Wednesday miles between a Tuesday speed day and Thursday tempo run? Currently I don't really do anything slower than 7 and usually in the 6:40-6:50 range.
Second, does anyone have experience going from like 2:29-2:30 to 2:22? I know it's a long shot in one year with a 2:29:27 PR but you don't know if you don't try your best.
So far my progression has been 2:52 (10/00), 2:37:49 (4/01), 2:36:02 (4/02 BAD race though), 2:29:27 (10/02) on increasing training volume from 50 mpw for my first to 80 mpw for the last (I'm currently getting up to 100-110 mpw for a couple months now and then again after a short stint for a couple spring track races).
Everybody is different but I'm just interested in some feedback. A 2000 Qualifier said I stood a good shot but that still looks like a lot of development in a short time.
