Anyone know of a good coach for private coaching in or near Austin for a high schooler with PRs around 4:30/9:40?
Thanks!

Jeff Cunningham. Look him up.
Don't go with Schraeder, that man is a blubbering idiot.
Jeff isn't coaching anymore as far as I know, well at least not at St. Michaels or through Rogue. I'm not sure if he's still coaching individual athletes some other way.
Chris Schrader definitley.
being personally coached by chris schrader I cant put anyone higher. shoot me an email and I can give you his number. jamespol123@aol.com
Thanks! Uh, any other suggestions?
Ummm. Both Steve Sisson and John Hayes are great coaches and both live in Austin.
I'm pretty sure Schrader still has his guys doing their long runs at Williamson County Park on Sundays. They start at 6:30.
You can run with them and talk to Schrader afterwards. He's friendly and will help you.

You should reach out to one of the instructors.
They have a tight knit community ethos with their off-season High School Programs. Offering community service opportunities in addition to the daily coaching etc.....
My kid ran/volunteered with them this summer and dropped about 43 seconds off of his 1.5 mile beginning of season XC Team Time Trial (8:30-7:47 on rolling hill grass course) I do not know if they do private in-season coaching. Worth a shot.
Is it likely that either Steve Sisson or John Hayes would be interested in working with a high schooler?

Dude you run a 4:30 mile. No they are not going to coach.
You're not hot sh!t.
Train hard and get faster.
I would reach out to Sisson or Hayes. I know Sisson can be reached if you go to his store. Not sure about Hayes.
Chris Schrader no doubt. Saw him take multiple kids from the 4:30-4:50 range and make them sub 4:15 guys.
Rogue has a great coaching staff, and has a youth-specific program:

.
Same is true of Gilbert's Gazelles:

.
Both of those groups also offer individual coaching, too, which may ultimately be what you're looking for, but isn't something you necessarily should shell out for before figuring out whether the coach/group is a good fit.
People get fooled by his so called "coaching". Meeting with kids for a long run and emailing them workouts is not coaching.
He basically tries to get the best runners form all the high schools to run for him, then claims he is a great coach for taking a motivated kid to the next level.
Anyone can email workouts to a motivated runner. When the kids do well it was his coaching, if the kids do bad the HS coach screwed him up!
Ask around before you fall for his crap.
Just look at the so called elite kid who moved from Dallas to run for him!
Ask Sisson and Gilbert first.

If the kid doesn't do well then he didn't put in the work.
Schrader has coached tons of kid to run fast.
No harm in talking to him.
He also doesn't try to "get all the best runners" He doesn't have a website or advertise himself. It's the kids who go to him.
