I was surprised to see Jordan Hasay in the Stockholm 3000m yesterday. I thought her season was over.
Maybe she is going for some kind of record for number of kilometers raced in one track season? By my count she has run at least 4 10ks all-out, plus another one fairly hard (32:40), plus her disastrous regionals race, which must have been somewhat draining. She also ran 5000m at regionals and nationals, and maybe at other times during her college season. She ran a 3000m race in London prior to Worlds. She ran 1500m at conference. With rounds and everything, she must be approaching 100km of racing this outdoor track season. That's nuts.
I know, everyone will say that most of those races weren't true races, but I'm not buying it. A lot them were all-out. It's not like she won very many of them. Any way you cut it, she's put in too many race miles this year. Salazar must be out of his mind.
Was it really surprising she finished DFL yesterday?
