She was coming hard, but did some zig-zagging at the top of the straight to find an opening. Nice run overall for the bronze.

She's getting her medal now if you're watching Eurosport.
Great accomplishment to set a PR after three rounds and get on the podium.
^^ This ^^
its forgotten how difficult it is to run a PB after ROUNDS, you have to be at your top performance level. BMART deserves this!
I even heard one of the Brit announcers pronounce her name properly.
Go Brenda!
She's raced a lot this season and a lot of people seemed worried she would burn out but that 5k work and strength paid off in the end (also the choice of 800 over the 15 I'd say)
Boy, Vigil really knows his athlete. He said beforehand she was probably capable of something in the high 1:57s.
I have asked this question on many threads before but I'm going to ask again. Why does Kastor not at least consult with Vigil any longer. He is the best coach in the country. Great run for Martinez.

Proud of her, ran smart to run her best potential.
Ajee Wilson as well.
Montano, totally embarrassing. Hopefully so much that she and her coach finally learn this lesson and end the hubris of her thinking what works in the USA will work in these kind of races.

I like where this is goin'! Giggidy, giggidy, gig-gi-dy!
Sure because, you know, anything different is automatically better right?
B-Mart *RULES*!!!
Just had to say it.
in the post race interview she also says vigil told her to go out in 58 even if she was in the back. very impressive that she followed his advice. can't believe she PR'd!
i feel bad for montano, but after this she really has to try new tactics. 4th and a 1:58 is certainly not a bad result, but it's probably the best she will get going out that fast.
Clearly Vigil watched a few of her races last year and realized he needed to set some ground rules on pacing and racing. Bmart got it right when it mattered.

"Coming hard" - Ha,Ha.
Watered-down Final.
Daegu: 1:55.87, 1:56.35, 1:57.42, 1:57.48, 1:57.82
Also mentioned about being rejected by two groups, wonder what TWO those can be

Man, what a *painful* way to run a 1:58. I really admire her courage, but she obviously needs to temper it with some realism.
If she can 1:58 like that, though, she could probably run 1:56-high right now just by slowing her first 400 down to mid to high 57 (I think she was right at 56.0x tonight).

Dunno, but New Balance has done rather nicely with its women middle-distance runners in this championships: silver for Barringer and now bronze for Martinez.
Nice to see them get the upper hand on Nike.

The Kiprotich maneuver only works when you're in the lead...poor tactics on her part.
