Has anyone had any experience with the new Newton Energy NR's?
I'm looking for an easy run/recovery shoe that is semi-soft, but not mushy. I've heard this fits what I am looking for, but I want opinions of others who have run in the shoe.
Thanks.

Are you overweight? Do you run your other run of the week in Vibrams?
Stay away from Newtons, unless you answered yes to either of those.
Ya, I'm taking the Newton's back. I run in Adios and Bostons currently and wanted something softer for recovery days. May give the boost a shot as a recovery shoe.
Check out the Ghost. Excellent softer shoe that's not too clunky. I use it often on my slower/easier days.

You are an idiot. Newtons are gonna keep you running midfoot even on your recovery days where your legs are sore. The shoes take a week to transition into by walking around in them and getting used to the lugs.
For long runs and recovery runs, I love the Hoka Bondi B2. They are low-ish drop (4-5mm), and take adjustment time unless you're already running in lower drop shoes. That said, they will take a lot of pounding off your legs. After you wear them for a week, you won't think twice about them.
I also train in Adidas Tempo and Nike Lunaracers for fast days.
