For a 145lb. 5'11'' male that slightly over pronates, and running 60-80 mpw... I've had luck with both in the past, just want thoughts on the current models and ya'll's opinions.
Thanks!

Go with the Structure since it's a stability shoe. The Pegasus is a neutral shoe
uhh... not very helpful
Never should anyone be considering those two shoes at the same time. They are intended for two completely different types of people. If you overpronate, then the Pegasus is not going to work; the midsole is far too soft and provides no medial support, which will result in an injury. The Structure on the other hand will provide said support.
On the other hand, if you do not overpronate, then the Structure will keep you too far on the outside of your foot, and will cause other injuries. Example: I've seen runners end up fracturing their 5th metatarsal from such a situation.
Bottom line: If you don't know basic info like this about shoes, go to your local running store and let them explain it to you. Contrary to popular belief, the majority of running store employees know exactly what they are talking about and will be very helpful. Also, almost every store I have ever heard of will give a 10-20% discount to high school and college runners, making it as cheap or cheaper than online.
Sincerely,
Your Friendly Boston-area Running Store Employee
how is it not? you're supposed to get a shoe that goes with your gait. since you overpronate, you need a stability shoe to reduce the pronation. If you wear a neutral trainer like the Pegasus, you are more likely to get an achilles injury or shin splints
clearly you guys need to learn wrote:

exactly
EVERYONE pronates.

Most do. Not everyone OVERpronates though. Some people actually supinate, which means they don't pronate enough. You need to educate yourself before you go and buy running shoes.
If you overpronate, go with the structure. It covers everything from mild to moderate(less than brooks adrenaline, more than asics 2000). If you have a low arch and overpronate more than the structure 16 can handle(it doesn't have a firm post or tpu reinforcement anymore), you will roll right over or crush the posting. If you have ran in the peg with only minor discomfort due to overpronation, the structure 16 should be okay. The pegasus is a great all around neutral shoe(l/w, well cushioned, universal fit if you are neutral). If you need more support than the structure offers, next step up is the eclipse3, but won't work if you have a flatter foot as the arch is too high. Hope that helps a little.
bingo on the go to a running store line. Plus, you can only get the structure at either running specialty or nike.com. No big box.
I worked at a specialty running store while in college so I know that one is neutral and one is stability... just curious as to people's thoughts on which which was the BETTER shoe.
I personally am prob better off in the structure but I enjoy the pegasus and have run up to 70mpw in it without being injured. I honestly think I (and many others) could get by with a stability or a neutral shoe, stability is usually the safer bet though.
How could you work at a local running store and ask "What shoe is better"? There is no answer to that! As was stated, one is more of a neutral shoe, the other a stability.
It's like asking what is a better brand, Asics or Brooks? It's all personal taste! If you've got a Fuji Apple or a Red Delicious and you went around asking which one people preferred, you're going to get different answers. It's not because one apple is better than the other. It's because some people like the taste of the other better.
Same with shoes, if you put both shoes on a bunch of people, you're going to get people who LOVE the pegasus, likewise you'll get people who can't stop talking about how great the structure is. It's not because one is better than the other, just some people like the feel of the shoe better.
However, if you are more of a forefoot striker and you overpronate, I would recommend the structure just because of the stability as well as the air unit found in the heel and ball of the foot.
The Pegasus does not have that air unit. So it is a lot softer in the front of the foot but is not as cushioned.
please stop bumping this thread. you have been given the answer. neither one is better than the other. there is one that is better for you, but we can't know for sure based on a few posts on a message board. if you truly overpronate, then the decision is clear, the structure would be better FOR YOU (note: not a better shoe overall, but better suited to your needs). if you don't know if you need the support, GO TO A RUNNING STORE. it really is that simple.
you can lead a horse to water...
Actually the structure has the zoom air unit ONLY IN THE FOREFOOT and the Pegasus ONLY IN THE HEEL.
Both are great shoes at what they are intended for though maybe the Pegasus is just a touch better as cushioning than the Structure is at stability.
The whole way the structure is designed a neutral runner can use it without ANY ill effect...not the case with pegasus and overpronating runners though...
