I've been running for a few years, but more seriously for the last two years. Out of precaution mainly, I got video gait analysis done at a well respected running store a year ago. They said I was overpronating and recommended stability shoes for mild/moderate overpronation. I got a pair of asics gt-1170s and have stuck with the same model since. They've been fine but I've always felt like I'm landing awkwardly, particularly in slower runs- I presumed this was how they're supposed to feel but perhaps it's not.
After getting injured recently for the first time (suspected stress fracture), I did a little more research on running shoes and came across a few articles about wear patterns- I had a look at my last two pairs and they're both very worn on the outside of the soles, with very little wear towards the inside. Isn't this pattern more in line with underpronation than overpronation? And does it make any difference if this is the pattern on stability shoes as opposed to a neutral pair? I mean, am I likely to have the same pattern with a neutral pair? Just trying to decide if it's worth switching to a pair of cushioned shoes next time or if I'm wrong about not overpronating.
Sorry for the questions. I'm not particularly knowledgable about this sort of thing, so any insight would be appreciated.
