Idiots, right?
Idiots, right?
I think that they saved a lot of money
"Right now, a graduate of a community college, which is a two-year college, on average, makes more than a graduate of a four-year college." - William Bennett, Former U.S. Secretary of Education
Yup, I'm an idiot. I visit these boards.
You're going to believe a U.S. gov't shill?

Did you miss the "former" in the title? In fact one of the main reasons he puts out for not going to college is the cost-benefit ratio, and he puts the blame for the ridiculously high cost of college squarely on the government.
I don't.

How is it the government's fault that college costs so much?
I never finished and make more than all of my friends who are mba and engineer graduates with my own business lol. I did finish 2 years then maxed out all my student loans to start my business and left. I do plan on finishing just for fun I believe I have 14 classes left plus I actually enjoyed school but yeah to me save your money unless you want to just major in something specialized
Your grammar skills are horrible. I can tell you don't have a four-year degree.

What does a four year degree have to do with grammar skills?
I think the decision not to get a college degree is perfectly fine. It all depends on the inidividuals's arttributes and goals. By no means does not finishing college make one an idiot. People who think that it does are the idiots; they are easioy fooled and believe anything that other people tell them.
Bill Gates
Mark Zuckerberg
Steve Jobs
None of them has (had) a college degree.
Now I have a Masters, but not having a college degree doesn't make you an idiot. One could say that the ones who work their way through a 4 year degree paid for by student loans are the idiots, and the way to be REALLY successful is to drop out of Harvard to do something better.

Oh good idea...try to prove a point by cherry-picking three really big-time outliers. Dope.
I have a feeling that coach d isn't very intelligent.

Hmmmm, whatever gave you that idea?
Once again, letsrun posters being exposed as among the stupidest people in America:
We’re all talking about the “jobs of the future” and “winning the future” and transitioning to a “knowledge economy.” Since predictions are hard, especially about the future, it’s a good idea to look at some data.
And it looks like we have some of it: the BLS has a handy chart of the fastest-growing jobs in America (h/t Erica Grieder), and the vast majority are not the “knowledge economy” jobs we usually think of. In fact, this chart seems to prove things that we already know: the rising importance of the healthcare sector to the economy (especially with an aging population) and the transition of the economy to services, where “services” is not a euphemism for “computers” but, like, actual services.

The real losers are people who signed up for high student loans they can't pay for because somebody told them they have to.
Depends on the situation.
Are you saying they are idiots because they lack knowledge or idiots for not going?
Some are both.
Some people have to get over the wrong message their parents taught them. Some people have some issue to work on before they can finish. There are many answers to your question.
I agree here, but you're being unrealistic.
Its expected you go to college out of high school. Parents, teachers, guidance counselors, friends, they all expect it (at least for most of us reading letsrun). As humans, custom and social pressure are the most powerful driving forces possible. How many actually have the money for university? not enough. Loans are the answer. We get all these kids going to university and paying way too much for a worthless degree which cannot add value to our society.
We have no appreciation for the working class in this country. Blue collar jobs are seen to some degree as distasteful. No college degree is seen as the same. This is absolutely shameful. We need to start recognizing that these jobs are highly skilled and valuable and should be treated as such, and not hesitate to offer alternatives to university to our high school students, such as apprenticeships in skilled labor.
Not everyone can be a CEO or doctor, and quite frankly most would be in over their head and quite unhappy in such positions. But everyone can be a professional and respected contributors to our society if we give them the chance.
I don't think all adults without college degrees are all idiots. I've worked with two guys with 4-year degrees and they were both dumb@$$es. Albeit one studied psychology and the other got a history major. I've also met some very smart people who had absolutely no post-high school education.
