Says Centro was just jet-lagged
Says Centro was just jet-lagged
and about to get beat by Manzano. Clearly, the real reason he stepped off.
Ha! Yea right, we all know the testing is pretty stringent at these Diamond League races
So this confirms he was faking an injury to avoid a bad finish. Kind of disappointing. What's wrong with just having a bad race?
Centro just posted this on Facebook:
"Just a note to reassure everyone that I am fine and injury free, didn't feel good last night, a few days easy and I will be back for Monaco, London and Moscow"

Bad races happen to the best. Faking an injury is a sh*t thing to do.
I'm a Centro fan. But I have to say that sounds a little lame. You are 250M from the finish line. If there is no injury just jog through to the finish even if you don't "have it".
It would have been better news if he had said he was fine but didn't want to risk further injury. And maybe that was the case but he just didn't say it in so many words.
Weeeeeeeeak.
Bitch move.
lol he doesn't care what any of you pee-ons think
It's a business - you cut your losses and move on to the next enterprise with a better chance of succeeding.
Actually he does.

exactly. anybody pro runner with half a brain wouldn't think twice about coming to letsrun anways.
i trust Al Sal. once centro gets acclimated he will no doubt be ready to roll come moscow.
So, in this AlSal basically says "Centro dropped out because he didn't feel good". In other words...the honest answer.
Then on the threads about Mo Farah everyone is talking about the "illness" being a media PR/cover story and it is totally faked to allow for Mo's alleged lack of fitness.
Maybe AlSal treats Mo and Centro totally different...but I kinda doubt it.
Whatever the reason it is this time, I'm sorry but I'm letting us go. I have basic needs. I shouldn't have to beg and say such things in a public forum. I'm embarrassed.
I'm not making any comment on the reasons for Centrowitz's dropping out or any reflections on his character but, since the linked story does raise the suggestion that the reporting by LetRun on his injury may have been inaccurate, I'd point out that:
1) You can (on the race replay) see him grab for his right leg when he drops out of the race, and
2) You can (in the Manzano interview video) see him noticeably limping as he walks in the background (just after Lagat congratulates Manzano).
Again, no comment, just the facts that anyone can see.

That's for freaking sure.
I suppose everyone would feel better if he said that he had a case of constipation from the jet flight the day before, and that his legs were tight from sitting on a plane for 10 hours. The consequence was that his body wasn't reacting well, so he packed it in for the day. I guess a guy like Centro, who has NEVER sandbagged or dropped out of a race, would be a bit embarrassed with himself. The guys is class, and anyone who says otherwise, doesn't have a clue.

Indeed.

You got my curiosity up. I watched the video bits again.
Assuming Centro is healthy, as Alberto reports, if Weldon had posted that Centro was just jet lagged after the race, no one would have thought about his hamstring.
Seems like a lot of power of suggestion and confirmation bias going on.
When he steps off the track it looks like he's just pulling the shorts liner out of his backside.
Take a look at the guy in Orange who walks behind Lagat after the race during Lagat's interview...now that is a LIMP.
Most of the other athletes look like they are guys who are wearing spikes walking on carpet after a race.
The guy in Orange looks ready for surgery.
