All of his competitors have raced at least once since USA's, yet Rupp hasn't competed at all since that miraculous 5k in Des Moines. What's going on?

He doesn't need to pick up a pay check.

Is Rupp paid to be a non-running runner?
He chooses his races to fit in with his training plan.
Most athletes sacrifice the optimal training regime to trek around the world running too many races. But gotta pay them bills.
He's worried and hiding.
Why waste it now? Double silver in Moscow!
Should be in Oregon.
he's in st moritz with big brother and uncle al.
From what I know about Salazar's training this is when they really start pushing in training. The block of training just before they taper is incredibly intense and not exactly the type of training that makes it easy to race. He will probably race somewhere before Moscow but now that he has qualifying out of the way everything is about medals. It has not been that long since he raced a 10k and 5k. Rupp will get in some good races. He has a history of always running a decent amount of races especially if you compare him to the Shumacher guys.
This has been discussed quite a bit in the thread "DUCK ALERT: Rupp is DUCKING the Diamond League while his rivals (even Farah) are racing it" (http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=5263365&page=1#ixzz2YNwK9KOP)
The theory by one smart observer (me) is that after getting OBLITERATED by Lagat in the slow 5000 at Des Moines, he knows he can't count on sit-and-kick tactics, and given his one poor international race this outdoor season, he knows he's miles from where he needs to be to hang with the Ethiopians in an honest race.
Therefore skipping/ducking most of outdoors to get in a good training block. Probably smart. We'll see what happens in Monaco, if he doesn't DNS/DNF there as he often does in DL meets.
Um....ever heard of PEDs?

That's why I asked. Many of the Schumacher guys have raced at least once since USA's, but Galen hasn't raced at all. But maybe this isn't atypical and I'm just not recalling last summer... Did he race between the trials and London?
in before rupp-certified-saladbar
oops
too late
-------
anyone that knows about salazar's training plan knows what he is doing right now
2 peaks per year
i.e.,
after his indoor season ended in mid march
2 weeks off
2 weeks easy jogging
4-5 weeks moderate training with races here and there
normally he would now begin his 8-10 week period of hard, quality training but being a US athlete he had to interrupt this to qualify for the world championships, meaning easy week before US champs, week of US champs, easy - moderate week after US champs
this interrupts that 8-10 week block of training that he does before peaking.
a non-US athlete like Mo can continue doing that block of training but galen could not and so is finishing it now in july
he will be ready to race for the win in moscow
then will run very fast races on the circuit after worlds
it has nothing to do with "ducking" competition
it is just how his training is and is part of his preparation
because galen and alberto both know that actually what happens in paris, or london, or monaco doesn't matter
and that at the end of the day an athlete is judged by what they did in the championships
see - Lasse Viren
flame away
that may be...but what about in a dishonest race?

That would be a 14:54 5k, such as the one hobby-jogged at the U.S. Championships.
Only thugs participate in dishonest races.
I've just seen him in a Starbucks in downtown Des Moines.
He's at the game!!! So fun!
He does not need to race unlike, the East Africans, his pay day is assured.
He will race in a small race at some high school soon though. Keep watching this space

First of all, it's been just over two weeks and he did the double, so he may need a little more recovery time. And plenty of other guys have not raced, especially those that did the 10k. What about Ritz, Derrick, Jager, Huling, True? I haven't seen any results for them either.
