When is Mo Farah going to make a world record attempt? What distance will he try for first?

he's already got one wr
'most money made from distance in a short period of time'
Let's talk about PR attempts first.
His PR's are old and they are not close to the WR's.

i don't know if i see him ever running a flat out time trial. aside from indoors with rupp, salazar seems uninterested in records or even PR's. rupp surely is in better than his 2011 26:48 shape - or was in the winter - and certainly was in 2012. but they have to be willing to race the full distance. it's not even what they train to do. they train to sprint at the end of "races" that are often, at fastest, near their T (tempo) pace.
if they time trialed, i think farah is in the 12:44-12:48 range right now. rupp is probably under 12:50. for a 10k maybe it's 26:35 for farah and about the same for rupp.
that being said, i think lagat could still pull off a 12:50 in a perfectly paced race - so could alamirew, gebriwhet, gebremeskel, koech, probably even the bekeles still. no one is threatening k bekele or geb's all out time trial times from their primes, though.

I love Farah, but I'd also love to seem him run the best time he can put down for 5000 or 10,000 at least once this year before we start talking about WRs. Endless sit-and-kicks don't show WR potential or even sub-12:45/26:30 potential.
Unless he has ability he hasn't demonstrated yet, it is doubtful that Farah will ever be a 2:03 marathoner. HG was almost 25 seconds faster than Farah has shown at 10,000 and barely made 2:03:59 in multiple attempts. Granted Mo has a faster 10,000 in him than his 26:46, but we don't know how much faster.
Given his likely 2:04-2:05 ceiling, it is unlikely Farah will ever be London or Berlin champion. Like Rupp, his best hopes for a WMM win will be unpaced races with curated/fixed fields (e.g. Boston) or challenging courses (e.g. NYCM). Which could make for some amazing races.

Pretty sure Geb has destroyed him in that category. Mo got 450k pounds to run the half AND next year's marathon. Geb has done much better than that.
Farah=12:50/26:40 and Rupp=12:55/26:45
Gebhriwet=Alamirew=12:50
Jeilan=26:50 and KB=27:00
Actually, I am not that sure whether a 2:04-5 is in the cards for Mo, you have to fully specialize on that distance and in his case that would mean one winter (post WCh time to April 2014)

Maybe so, but Mo most assuredly set a WR for most money made for knowingly and intentionally running only half a race.
(first half London Marathon 2013)
he might be too late now
10k is too fast for anyone
5k not much chance ever maybe low 13-45 at his best
Has he ever talked about world records? I don't think so. He, and more importantly AlSal probably know he doesn't have a chance.
He could claim he's making a WR attempt to bump up his appearance fee but I doubt he as any intention of ever going for it.
Farah is clean, Bekele was not. He has no chance at Bekele's records.

it's a delicate issue to tackle the mid-distance records. if you set a WR in the 1500, 5000, or 10000 it's basically saying to the world, "yeah, i'm on the sauce, but you can't prove it, so F you!"
very cynical, and it's not impossible to set a WR clean, but damn it's unlikely. i really think it's potentially better for one's reputation at this point in time to NOT set a WR in any of those 3 distances, even if you can. weird.
ya
assume mo and team sky(cycling) are clean
who knows
but salazar and brailsford know the game
especially in cycling now
watch the power meter and keep to clean physiological limits
dont go full gas and raise red flags
even if you can go faster
they know the score........
what happened in the past was serious doped ......................don't go there

Damn you really are stupid. Cycling is not your thing I gather.
We all know that Farah is not clean and that is why he is playing the sit and kick games. If he is the world greatest, then he should show it by running great times.

Paula Radcliffe says that's "chicken feed" to her.
