looked to be WELL over 18 meters, WC should be very exciting...

Whats more impressive is that he's back after breaking his ankle.
The foul was significant though, subtracting the overstep from the total distance the jump looks about 18 even, which is still huge.
i've got hold of the feed
THIS WAS HUGELY THE GREATEST INTRINSIC JUMP IN HISTORY !!!
it was a foul by 11cm ( official from vid feed )
it was with a -0.2 wind !!!
( 5th round foul )
http://www.diamondleague-birmingham.com/Live-StartlistsResults/Overview/Triple-Jump/
i've checked the freeze frame accurately for long while ( wait for a coupla days to get it on youtube )
comparing the marks of taylor's 17.66 leading ( red-line ) & 18.00 ( blue line ) teddy's least dirt mark is
18.32 !!!
subtract the 11cm & it is an intrinsic jump of
18.21
that's into a 0.2 !
modifying that for a basic jump of 0 wind ->
18.26 basic !!!
comparing with edwards 18.29 with a 1.3
( big caveat is the vid doesn't say how much he was behind the board & i don't remember it at the time
someone look it up )
18.29 with +1.3 ( it was sea-level ) ->
18.01 basic
teddy just jumped something close to 25cm bigger than edward's wr ( subtract what edwards was behind the board ) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ventilate how does Edwards 18.43 nul jump and Harrisons 18.09 jump compare?
it's ventolin^3
edwards 18.43 was partial step unto board
looks about 3cm on the 20cm board
freeze-frame 1'06 into vid
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmUJ2GfVkKY
so that is a 18.60 with a 2.4 at lille, which is at 21m altitude
now you have to use wind-altitude calculator to adjust :
http://myweb.lmu.edu/jmureika/track/wind/index.html
select "50m" from drop-down as that is nearest to ~ 40m runway & input an estimated basic speed of 5.85
( as i doubt edwards or other tj'ers woud be within 3 tenths don's 5.55wr
( suspect -
i have believed from likely false start - don coudn't start ) or a (6.39 - 0.84) ( likely for mo in his wr))
5.85 with +2.4 at 21m for 50m = 5.98
so you have 5.85/5.929 initial correction
this has to be squared as wind helps during runup & also in trajectory
so edwards 18.43 or ~ 18.60 from step
= 18.60 * ( 5.85/5.929 )^(1/2) =
18.11
apologies
legendary lille 18.43 is probably 10cm better worth than his 18.29wr but it still got hugely hammered by teddy's jump today by ~
15cm !!!
someone kindly post the header

to T&Fn & AW boards ( i can't log in )
THIS IS BY FAR THE HUGEST ATHLETIC ACHIEVEMENT IN FIELD EVENTS FOR 21y !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i'd always swore by walt's '04 17.63 with a -0.4 when he accidentally stuck leg out to balance awesomness as best tj ever
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7YEbyArFsc
you didn't want to try & work out his butt landing mark !!!
that was probably a 18.50++ butt landing but it was a scuppered jump
try & work out trajectory his butt shouda made ( it's a wiki challenge )...
I understand they need a certain level of discipline but why cant they just measure it from where he took off?
Let's not get too worked up over a foul, okay? A 10m legal jump would beat it easily.
And yes, I'm a jumps coach.
Yeah, I agree. It's ridiculous.

I did estimate his butt trajectory a couple years ago. I'll see if I can find the files I used to do it and upload pics. I got Davis at about 18.20m.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEEvcp5MQsg
at 3'00 in it gives his landing with lots of lines
( 17m, 17.66, 18m & ??? )
i now get his landing at
18.32
( what a surprise ! )
i'd appreciate some other estimates from guys willing to do some graft
don't take my word for it - measure the midline distances with a set-square
( if it doesn't link, search :
tamgho foul 2013
it's 1st result )

if you're a jumps coach, i'd suggest you better get back to flipping burgers at wendys for triple take-home
the wr holder, edwards was commentating & he said his pulse had just got down to 150 some while after seeing teddy's foul
you think edwards' was thinking that was an intrinsic 10m legal jump ???
that walloped edwards best ever jump for intrinsic value by
10cm + !!!
Yup, fouls don't count. You are assuming he's going to hit perfect on the board... or better like Pablo Pichardo :)
learn to read &/or think
i gave edwards 18.43
( he acknowledges as his greatest ever jump
( better than his 18.29wr (+1.3))
which was illegal mark due to +2.4 but had ~ 17cm on the board, meaning
18.60m with +2.4 as ~
18.11 basic
i got teddy's foul as a basic ~
18.26 !!!
ignorance wrote:Ventilate how does Edwards 18.43 nul jump and Harrisons 18.09 jump compare?
kenny's was awesome, but i have never found vid showing how far he was behind the mark in his 18.09 definitevely
the actual jump vid
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2EV_2t1hmsfreeze-framed at 0'59 shows his foot a little way off mark ( i believe 20cm board ) - there is clear "pale" in front of his foot
that looks
~ 5 - 10cm from line
meaning intrinsic
18.09 with 5 to 10cm added ->
18.14 - 18.19
into a 0.4 at 315m of atlanta -> basic of
18.19 - 18.24
even though i'm a big kenny fan, teddy's jump looks from maths as better by
~ coupla cm
but i have never seen "official" distances behind/ahead board for '95/'96 epic jumps...
So from that he should break Edwards WR easily!
Never going to happen
what part of
" (my) heart rate just got down to 150 after teddy's jump"
did your numbskull not understand ???
No, just means he has the potential. Still needs to land that jump, but he will have more opportunities.
