Why is a coke $2.50 in the airport, when it's $1.70 at the neighborhood gas station?

Lots if demand and a limited number of suppliers.
captive market

Same reason it's expensive at the ball park or a concert.
Thanks to the government, there's no possibility of competition once you pass the government security checkpoint.
there's also special gas in the coke so its 'airplane safe'
more expensive than regular coke
$4 at the movies
I guess you're right. Can't the leftist government do something about it?
government isn't the issue. monopoly is. you want people bringing all kinds of stuff onto plans just so you can have cheaper food?

That's interesting, I would swear that most shops in airport terminals aren't run by the government.
Maybe it's just another exampleof exploitation by vampire capitalists?
You can't leave, but you want to eat something, so they trap you inside and raise the prices. High demand raises the price.

Stupid. Even without security, it would be a huge hassle to leave the airport to get food somewhere else. Even airports in major cities aren't walkable to any kind of commercial areas. Are you going to rent a car to go get some lunch during your layover? If security went away today, the transaction cost associated with leaving the airport would still be high enough to prevent any downward pressure on the prices of airport food.
