Jokie McJokester on here. The only way you are grabbing one of those is if you have an intimate personal relationship with
A.) A nike athlete
B.) An exec at night
C.) An exec at nike's wife
D.) All of the above.
I see this to often. One of my ex GF's favorite actor wore a NOP singlet to run in his marathon. I told her it was blasphemy and that he should take it off immediately and give it to the rightful owner. I also stated, after so, that his 3:30+ marathon is terrible. She responds with the typical completing a marathon is impressive etc etc. She has to say these things because she is a slogger herself who complains about being overweight after intercourse since, skinny I (5'9 145 skinny for American standards), intimidate her in a odd way.
Another time I was in a 800m race and some idiot wore a USATF singlet. I was freaking out thinking this guy was going to destroy me in 1:4x. turned out I led the first lap at 54 and finished in 1:55 in 4th place. the guy in the USATF singlet however finished in a terrible time of 2:10. I checked the seed time and he put down a 1:54 hahahah what a joke.
Moral of the story is this:
Don't wear pro gear if you are slow. Many of us can see though the bullshit and call you out on being a tool. If you do acquire a Nike Pro singlet, frame that bad boy up after getting it autographed by Centro or other such pros.
Moral of the story is that you are an @sshole

This.
How so? 3:30+marathon is slow. Wearing a USATF singlet to a mediocre college meet is dumb. I fail to see why I am an a$$hole
I fail to see why you care so much? If some guy wears a Lebron jersey at the local basketball court, do you go yell at him?
The two are drastically different sports with different cultures surrounding them. I would careless about basketball, but if a guy on a pickup game of soccer wore a Messi jersey and played like total crap, I would tell him he was undeserving of playing with it on.
Same thing as wearing a Lance cycling jersey on a bike ride but only able to his 20mph for 15 miles.

Dude your a dick. In reality there is no difference between being a hobby jogger and wearing NOP singlet and going to play pickup basketball in a Lebron jersey. These people are fans and it helps the sport.
Sorry you got intimidated because someone was wearing a USA singlet

You are clearly terrible at judging how fast somebody is by looking at them.
It's hard to judge who is fast in general. Some people just don't have that fast twitch for a sub 2 800 but can look mad fit.
Someone explain the thinking behind this to me.
Nike is in the business of selling athletic gear. So why wouldn't it sell singlets like it supplies to the pros? I'm not even saying gear with team logos, like NOP or OTC, just their latest and greatest version of their gear? The NFL, NBA, MLB, etc. are more than happy to sell people gear just like the pros wear. Why aren't running gear suppliers? Aren't they just leaving money on the table?
Not big enough profit margin I bet. NOP sometimes sells stuff on the web or at Pre.

I like that asics sells their sponsored athlete gear, but Nike probably feels they want their athletes to be exclusive to the gear.

I never really understood it either.
"you planning on running in it at your local 5k this summer? having dreams of everybody coming up to you asking if your pro while you run your 18 min 5k?"
-it shocks me that you would take the time to write this. are you really that bad of a person to feel the need to do that? maybe your life sucks, or you perceive that it does. perhaos you're just having a bad day. either way, keep you negativity, and stop being a richard. your life will last longer if you do.
I think running in an NOP or OTC singlet would be running under false colors if you are over the age of 14 or so.
I've seen people wear the Hanson team singlets who obviously aren't team members and I kinda understand it as a fan deal but I wouldn't do it myself because with road racing you are running on the same streets and the same course as the pros and if you aren't a team member you shouldn't wear the team uniform. It's not a matter of pretending to be elite, just not pretending to be part of something you aren't. I wouldn't wear a Team in Training shirt either when I'm wasn't part of that group.
Anyhow, all I'm talking about selling generic singlets of the same kind that Nike's elite athletes get - not in the same colors or whatever, but the same basic singlet. It seems like that would be good business for Nike. If it's a good product, why not sell it to the public?
