The profile is great. The ride a little too firm for a lightweight trainer IMHO.
Great shoe for forefoot strikers. I prefer the Lunarfly-much smoother ride although has mild stability, better price too.
I really miss the first few Zoom Elites(2003-2005) and the Skylon, best shoes ever!
I train daily in Zoom Elite 6's. Great shoe, seems to be the ideal amount of cushioning versus weight for me to use everyday as I find anything more like Pegasus etc just that bit too much bulk.
High arch in the ZE6 though, alot of guys who run in these will tell you that as it bothers alot of people but it is fine with me. I do notice I land alot more so on the outside of my foot (mid foot striker) but they do feel good to run in and I hold good form in these even on long runs as there is a good response from the forefoot.
If you are a mid/fore foot striker and you run your easy/steady runs at a decent pace (no 8mm slogging) then these shoes are fantastic.
O'Lionaird posted sneak pics of the Zoom Elite 7 like 3 weeks ago though.... But there are new colourways for the 6 releasing in July. So current colourways will come down in price and even more so when the 7's do actually arrive which will most likely be spring 2014 I think.
It's a good shoe.
It really pushes you onto your forefoot with the curvature of the outsole.
The forefoot cushioning is minimal and the shoe is quite responsive in the front.
The arch is fairly aggressive and often seems to push me to suppination, even though I'm a mild overpronator generally.
The upper is a little rigid and isn't as flexible as it should be for a shoe this light, but the dynamic flywire does create a good fit across the top of the foot.
The heel counter is nicely tapered in back, which is great when you're feeling good and striking forward, but not so great when you're tired and your form is a little less than stellar. This is not a good shoe for slogging along at slow paces or for recovering the day after a hard workout.
Overall, it's a nice shoe that earns a spot in my rotation but doesn't replace the NB 890v3 as my go-to favorite.
I picked up 2 pairs last month from Nike clearance with a coupon code for $70.37 each.
I've probably put about 120 miles on the first pair and they have worked well for me. I'm old, stocky and a supinator. Favorite shoe ever was the Nike Marathoner. Most of my miles are run between 7:20 and 8:20.
No leg pain is my key indicator and these pass that test. They are a bit more built-up than I prefer and I wouldn't use them for racing, but for getting the miles in they look like a good purchase so far.
I've been using the Zoom Elite+ 6 since March, and it has treated me fairly well since then. I'm a lightweight highschool runner, and the bulk of my mileage is run between 6:00-7:00 pace. Because of this, along with being a midfoot striker, I do enjoy the ride it offers. It does have a higher arch like others have mentioned, but so do I. The prior 8 months, I was running in Lunarglides which did have a more built-up heel than the Elites. Besides that, I did notice the Elites had a little less cushioning. The main sell for the Elites vs. the Glides was the quality of rubber on the outsole of the shoe. The Glides would wear out way to quickly which made them a real pain... I wouldn't mind having a little more cushion in a shoe for easy days, but I have yet to take care of that.
