well, I wouldn't use the victory elites because were made mainly for middle distance, although if you wanted to buy them ahead of time for next track season they're on sale now. Other than that, Saucony has always been a brand I liked. I don't think you can really go wrong with the matumbo, victory xc 2, and the Carrera xc.
Nb xc5000
Saucony Carrera xc
Nike victory xc 2
im running xc in my mambas
Adidas Adizero Cadence
the Mambas are so bad for XC its not even funny. talk about slipping left, right and centre once the slightest of mud comes around. On firm grass the matumbos are great, but enjoy the sh1tshow you will encounter once it becomes a mudbath.
At least the track victory 1 is ok because of a more aggressive forefoot as well as more spikes, but the victory 2s are basically making athletes have foot problems. I can also assume the victory elites wont last long on the course either
As for other track shoes:
Cadence, Avanti - not bad ideas to use since they are designed for distance runners
Endorphin MD - see Nike Victory 2
Endorphin LD - See Nike Matumbo
A great XC shoe is one that is aggressive with the spike configuration, has good grip and is very flexible
Which spikes do you like the best?
Also how do you feel about either road racing/ xc flats?
Sketchers.
adidas SPRINGBLADE. Out today goddammit!
just use whatever man, i have ran in matumbo's victory's, victory xc's. its all preference if u like vics go vics, if u like matumbo's go matumbo's
It really is personal preference on this one. Go with what you like.
Personally though, I like Nike Victory XCs for cross and Matumbos for track. The guy above had it right-Matumbos work for cross until you get into the nasty stuff. I've never had an issue with the Victory XCs.
I'm assuming you're in high school. If this is indeed the case, why does it matter? Go to your local running store, try on some pairs, pick the ones that feel the most comfortable. Ideally you're going to save some money, and you most likely won't notice a difference; because, most high school runners are nowhere near the level where spikes are important.
I use streak lt's for xc and feel faster than when I use spikes and break out a pair of forevers when it gets real muddy.
Crocs
Oh please, spare us the highbrow attitude. You're going to finish where you finish no matter what level you're competing at. Hasay will never defeat Dibaba does that mean she should just wear any old shoe?
Well groomed, firm courses: Nike Matumbo
Anything else: Victory XC or the new Saucony XC spike, don't know what its called (it is actually slightly lighter than the vics)
Saucony seems to be making a run at the spike market, pretty successfully as a competitor to the Victory line
been racing in the New NB5000 spikes, pretty cool. I've raced in Nike fly knits before too I like them both pretty equally.
