Which watch is better and why?
The 610... the NSA knows where (and how slow) you are as you are trying to run away.
I don't know which is better, but I really do enjoy my Forerunner 610. The touchscreen interface is intuitive to me, and I appreciate the wireless transfer to my computer.
The Garmin 210 is an entry level watch and will leave you wanting more. The biggest thing that I didn't like was that I couldn't review splits on the watch. You have to download the data to your computer just to look at it. That seems like something very basic that any running watch that records data should be able to do.
The 610 is a much improved version of the 410. No more touch bezel. The touch screen works very well, even in rain or while wearing gloves. I also like how the watch vibrates along with beeping when it records a split (auto lap). It has a lot of things I don't use (virtual training partner, etc), but it does all the things any runner wants very well. Well worth the step up in price.
Hope that helps!
I have a 110 and 610. The 610 has ant+ wireless data transfer, and that pretty much seals the deal for me. The vibrating alerts can be turned off by the way.
the touch screen is over-rated imo, and is mostly a gimmick. I prefer buttons, or possibly mind control (that's probably not too far off so don't laugh).
