Currently I run in the kinvara 3 but i do a lot of mileage on the road, and am planning on bumping it, so I think I'll need a slightly more supportive trainer. Or will I be fine in the kinvaras? Am I risking anything using them? Thanks!

As you up your mileage a second different shoe might help keep you healthy. If the Kinvara has been working, you are probably in the right category. Have a good local running store help you figure out a second option for the rotation - maybe something like the Ride if Saucony works well for you.
why would running in multiple trainers help?
Personally I'm only able to do short races in the Kinvaras otherwise they really bother my Achillies. I do around 60 MPW and really like the Asics Gel Nimbus.

By switching up your trainers, you help avoid repetitive motion issues. The weight of the shoe changes, the heal strike, your pronation etc. Look at the shape of the shoe sole, check the flexion mid-shoe. Get a bit of variety and try them out. Light shoes for fast days. Cushion/stability shoes for long runs.
Giving your shoes a day off also helps them rebound, prolonging the life of the shoe.
bump...thanks.
Any thoughts on the Pegasus or Vomeros?
I enjoy Kinvaras and have also found that I like:
-Asics Gel-Lyte 33
-Nike Free
-Brooks PureConnect
-Adidas Adizero Tempo 5
The Frees do occasionally give me some pain on the outside of my foot due to a narrow toe box. I run around 60-80 mpw and have never had serious issues with any of the above shoes (including Kinvara).
