So does Derrick still have to run USA Nationals?
Do they get the A standard or is this an automatic entry?
As far as I could tell from interviews they get the A standard. Which Spence and True needed, but Derrick already had.

FIXED
This just helped Ritz... Big time as I'm not sure he'll be top 3 at USA's. Now he just has to beat Teg and he is in if all the major players look the same.
Rupp
True
Derrick
Ritz
Thanks for pointing this out, had forgotten about it. The new blood is strong!

Just to be clear, they still have to qualify at US champs, but now have the A standard.

Dont they still need to finish top 3 in the trials?
They still have to make the team. Do you think that Ethiopia is going to tell the Bekele brothers to stay home because they had 4 guys in the top 15?
It is just A standard.
They have to be among the top three who have the "A". Last year the Texas A&M girl Rodgers was top three in the 10K but didn't have the A so stayed home.

Good god. Could a board get more confused by a simpler concept?
Spence, True and Derrick now have the A standard should they qualify to represent the USA at their trials.
Derrick already had the A so True is the only one impacted on the men's side: I believe this is the current list of runners with the A in the 10k:
Rupp
Ritz
Derrick
Teg
True
Add Diego Estrada, should he choose/be allowed to run the US champs vs. being selected again for the Mexican team.
Hey guys, does this mean they don't have to run the 10k at nationals?

Exactly - which should leave them all fresh to try and qualify in the newest IAAF Championship event: a 26.2 mile race that takes place entirely on the track.
No shit they qualified for world XC, that is they finished the top 15.

Is he a US Citizen? That's the only way. He can't "choose".
Didn't Estrada run in the Olympics for Mexico last year? Pretty sure he would have to sit out before he could run for the US.
