I tried out barefoot running a few months ago when I found some vibram bikila's on sale, and I feel much better running with the minimalist shoes. However, a hole formed in the shoe bottom after only about three months, so I need some new shoes. I came across the Xero shoes (formerly invisible shoes), and I'm wondering if anyone has used them. They are about half the price of vibrams, so even if they didn't last any longer they would be a better value. It seems a little weird that they are sandals, though. Do they stay on your foot when you run as well as a shoe with a proper top part would? I've tried running in my flip flops a few times and it's not a pleasant experience. Can anyone give their experience with the Xeros or similar shoes?
Alternatively, are there any barefoot shoes that you guys have found to be more durable than the vibrams? I'm running mostly on pavement, not trails, but I guess there is enough gravel and assorted debris to have formed a hole in my current pair...
Thanks.
