What is the new st5 like compared to the st3?
Loved the st3 and then the update to the st4 was terrible.

I don't know what the st3 is like; I've never worn it. However, I do run in the ST5, and I think it's okay.
I don't care for the 12mm heel drop, so I don't know if that is a factor for you. For me, it interferes with my foot strike. It is supposed to have gel cushioning in the heel, but since I'm a forefoot striker, it's a non-factor for me.
I love the fit of the ST5 in the midfoot, and the toe box is perfect. The toe box is really roomy width wise, and about medium height wise. The midfoot is a snug regular width. The DRB bugs the hell out of me when I'm walking in the ST5. I feel it right at the very front of my heel. When I'm running, I don't really feel the DRB.
If Brooks were to move the DRB forward about an inch and lower heel drop to between 6mm and 8mm, it would be the absolute perfect lightweight trainer for me. It's supposed to be a racing flat, but honestly that heel drop makes it feel like a lightweight trainer.
After reading several good reviews and considering the weight i ended up buying them (st5) as a shoe for tempos and some road races.
Last week i gave them away to my friend, since the heel is way too clunky for me. Dont get me wrong, i dont look at h2toe drop number and say 'this is a bad thing' but i tried it and i just couldnt do my relaxed forefoot strike without flexing or bendig the foot a little.
For a rolling mid/heelstrike its a perfect and quick shoe. Firmer ride and good weight.

You just described the Saucony Fastwitch
Yeah, it sure sounds like it. I just purchased the Mizuno Wave Musha 4, so it will be a bit before I give those a shot. Do you have any experience with the Fastwitch?
