Wow, that's flying. Especially without their best mid-distance guy. Switch out Watkins and his 1:49 split for Loxsom and his 1:46-47 split, and they could have gotten the NCAA record.
Great job by Princeton! I saw those guys run last weekend, and it was so clear that they had the potential for something like this. WOW!
Does anybody have the splits for Princeton's carries?
That time is not bad - but the University of Texas still retains the WORLD RECORD! - Not the American or NcAA record - thre fricking WORLD RECORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Princeton splits were about: 2:55, 46, 1:49, 3:56
Not to be pass judgement but Villanovas anchor ran the least aggressive race I have ever seen for a team that was time trailing to make it to nationals. Fora 3:35 or 3:36 1500 guy I was not impressed with his 3:59 anchor. Has he peaked early after his 7:54?
Props to Princeton and penn state for their quick times/victories. Also very impressed by Virginia techs anchor.

How do they have the world record but not the NCAA record or American record?
The thread got this far and no one has mentioned the freshman Kidder's 2:53? Solid.
3:42 outdoors on the way for that fella.
PSU's time is the second fastest NCAA indoor DMR of all time.
Of all time!
PSU better get away from Callahan next weekend. He had a lot left in the tank.
if you count nd's track as indoor
What happened to Wisconsin? Did someone just tank their leg of the race?
No, Mellon (800) ran a bit slower than his competitors and was caught from a slight lead, the 400 leg lost a little ground, and then Hatz ran almost even with Bayer but trailed by a step (they only finished 0.20 out of the money in 9:31, not too much could have gone 'bad'.
If Loxsom had run the 800 instead of Watkins, they only would have been further ahead for Creese who would have eased up most likely and let teams back in, and then run fast again late to pull away, he probably would have run 4:00 instead of 3:57.6
This is what happened to McEntee who had an even bigger lead and is used to being a closer type, not a front runner , If McEntee had run the 3:57 anchor he ran last year Nova would have broken the College Record, as an example, but it never quite plays that way.
Most guys with big leads in major relays play it safe and do not risk a bow up and go out conservatively and guys get back into it, ala Penn almost every year.
