Note: We pride ourselves on getting things right but wanted to apologize for a headline that was up on the homepage earlier today in big font that read: "Jerry Schumacher's Group No Longer With The OTC And Could Eventually Leave Nike" and linked to a messageboard thread which we have now deleted. That headline wasn't accurate and we apologize for the error. There was nothing in the original tweet that the message board thread was based on that talked about Schumacher leaving Nike. That whole thread was based off of a tweet that agent Dan Lilot made which is pretty straight forward.
No where was it implied Schumacher might leave Nike.
One could obviously eventually leave any employer but the facts are Jerry Schumacher is a Nike employee and his group's ties to Nike are much stronger than to most shoe companies as Nike pays the coach's and athletes' salaries.
The group is no longer going to be part of Oregon Track Club (OTC) and may get a new name. That's not really big news as they are in Portland and the OTC is based in Eugene. Since they are really two groups, it makes sense to not share a name.
There actually was another LetsRun thread on this topic which was started 30+ minutes before the second thread that got Super Hot, but it never gained much traction as there really wasn't any news being made at all. You can read it here:
http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=5064889The second post on that thread sums it up best:
We apologize for the inaccurate headline and for the fact it was in big font.
