Bernard Lagat is to run the NYC Half. It will be his longest race to date. Predictions?

I'm guessing Rupp is not going to run it then...
this should be pretty interesting; predictions for his time?
i wonder if he has been doing any specific training or just a spur of the moment thing
It sounds like he's been planning on it for a while:

Misleading title, half the guys in the elite corral will use "Kip" as a nickname.
This will be very interesting. On one hand he is Bernard Lagat one of the greatest ever and really hard to be against but on the other hand Lagat in a half marathon? Who would have guessed this 13 years ago when he was battling El G in the 1500? I heard him in an interview after Millrose saying that he has increased the mileage and the endurance work so this might have been in the plans all along.
I would not have predicted this, no way. In a WC year? On 70 mpw? WTH? next yr - an off yr - should be the time for all this experimenting.
I'm thinking he is too smart to really hammer this thing - 61:15.
But on the right day on a faster course he could run 60:00, no problem.
Dude is a 1500/5000 guy - not a long distance runner. He won't knock the cover off here.
I thought this was about Kip Litton, lol.

Me too!
Lagat doesn't really race except to race. He's not the type to race as a workout. I predict an all-out effort, but not faster than 61:00 because he just doesn't have the mileage background to run a true world-class time at this distance.
