Spivey wasn't a long distance runner
It's a track spike for 1500m and up.
Top 15 in NCAA cross country as a freshman, made world and Olympic team at 5000 meters.

Shocking...a letsrunner talking out of his backside...just spewing false information as if it's fact. I don't get this place. People like Wiggins astound me.
For the last time, use your real LR name you jelly-spined, 130-pound weasel.
Spivey may have dabbled in other events, but he was foremost a miler, and that's normally called middle distance, not long distance. Naming a long-distance shoe after a miler is stupid.
Mr. Spivey seems to be happy with them, enough so to put them on his personal site. I do believe he helped develop them, though my recollection could be wrong about that.
I believe it is possible for a "Miler" to develop shoes that are not "Miler Shoes" for reasons that may not be obvious to an outside observer.
The outside observer being the typical consumer, that is a foolish marketing strategy.
If it were Spivey MD spikes, the consumer would say, aha, middle distance, Spivey, yes, I'll buy those and use them for the mile.
What I really like about these shoes is that they appear to be made of the same stuff as flywire and they are clearly oregon colors. That marketing department at asics is really cutting edge.
The basic upper is thin like the Victory series shoes, but there is no flywire since those are only found on Nike shoes.
Please note these shoes are also XC shoes.
bring it on, fatboy. i weigh 60 pounds more than 130 with 8% bf. i'll rip your arms off and beat you silly. making olympic and world champ teams does not mean that you're dabbling. as for using real names, your parents sure weren't thinking ahead when they came up with the name, "bad". maybe they were just prognosticating your forum content...
Wikipedia is a good place to get information. I recommend it ;)
