I've heard if you send back Nike flats that have ripped, Nike is usually pretty good with sending you a new pair...anyone have experience with this?

no, you can't get a free pair of shoes after you wore yours out. Admit it, you've been training in these for over a month.
Nike is a hard brand to deal with on a retailer level as well. Sorry bro, out of luck.

I had a pair of spikes that the upper ripped on after what i though was quite a bit too soon. I told nike what I thought the defect was, sent them back and got a nike.com credit for the retail price of the spikes. I was impressed that they stood behind their product.
It isn't something i would abuse, but if a pair of spikes lasts me less than a full season (talking competition, of course, if you run in them daily they wont last long).
This was several years ago though.
