So I'm looking at the two successors to the most successful medium distance spike ever made, and all that separates them is 40 bucks and a carbon fiber shank in the plate. So to people who have tried both the elites and the 2s, or people who have just tried the elites: is the shank noticeable? I'm an 800 runner that dabbles in the mile and is always running a 4x4/4x2 at the end of the meet, so if the shank is as helpful as it seems, the elites would appear to be the perfect all-purpose spike for me. If it's a contrived bulletpoint, then I'll save myself ~40 bucks and buy the vic 2s, which still offers the improved upper.
