She did it, with ease apparently. I didn't buy up on Flotrack to watch. Impressive, but hardly a surprise, given her other superlative marks.

I predicted 4:33.02, so I was very close!
4:16.11 at the 1500... 4:32.78 for the mile.. OMFG... a 4:32 equates to 4:11.4... man she had some wheels that last 109 meters...
I think her 1500 outdoor time converts to about 4:32 so probably to be expected. I believe Salazar is saying she can run 4:25 at Millrose, so if that's true, 4:32 should not have been any problem for her today.
I get 4:12.57 as the conversion. (divide by 1.08). Regardless ... flying! As a junior!
mcmillan has a 433 as a 8:59 3000 equivalent - so she is improving from that 9:0x 3k a few weeks ago.
good on her.
4:25 seems like a stretch, but I imagine she'll get there in the not-too-distant future. No prep record from 1k to 5k is safe.Just noticed she nearly got the American Junior record, too. That's an oldie as well -- Darlene Beckford 4:32.30 from 1978!

Just saw she hit 4:16.11 en route ... which is two more records as Lynn Jennings had both of those from her 4:18.9 back in 1978, as well.
It's amazing ... people were peeing their pants when Alan Webb smashed Ryuns record. But no one cares about this.

pretty sure there are tons of threads talking about this and tons of people tweeting too
if you are still wondering why Cain is skipping HS competition - she would have almost lapped the 'invitational' mile field winner today. (4:58)or she would have been 26 seconds ahead anyway.
Incredible. Agreed, it's not too surprising given recent results, but still great to see it happen. Man, I wonder if Salazar is right about that 4:25!!
No, only one thread talking about it here. There were dozens when Webb ran 3:53.
Go pro M.C!!!!
Are there results? Did she win?
1 Sarah Bowman New Balance 4:31.61
2 Nicole Sifuentes Saucony 4:31.65
3 Mary Cain unattached 4:32.78
4 Heather Wilson NJ-NY TC 4:34.59
5 Renee Tomlin Nike 4:39.37
6 Cat Beck CPTC - NB 4:40.12
7 Genevieve LaCaze New Balance 4:41.68
The difference between Webb and Cain is that w/ Webb, we thought, "Can he do it?" And w/ Cain we think, "Of course she can do it." She's proving herself time and time again over the last two years, so it's become expected. That, and she appears to consciously be avoiding the press, unlike Webb.
Thanks!
Also, most runners on this site are males, most of them care more about men's races. Same reason people talk about the NBA and not the WNBA. This is just an observation though, I am not saying anything negative about women's sports, just on average the garner less attention.

This is 100% correct. We all knew Cain could do it. But Webb ran a world class time and was not far behind El Guerrouj.
Way to go Mary Cain. Killing everything from NXN in the mud to a mile on the track. Cain is a scary combination of strength and speed.

Dude! ... It's nice that we keep track of girl's record's also, just as we do for junior's, master's, retard's, wheelchair, etc...but let's not even pretend that those "special category" records count as much as the real ones do.
What an idiot. And how ironic that you prove you can't even use an apostrophe correctly while you are making fun of "retard's". Back under your rock, boy.
