How do they compare to the green silence besides being lighter?
Only a handful of miles into them, but they are pretty great so far. Unsure about long term durability, so going to restrict them to tempos and speed work. Can't offer any comparisons to the Green Silence. Can say the Connect 2 has one of the worst toe boxes I have ever experienced. Don't understand how disconnected the entire Pure line is.
They are significantly different. The Green Silence has a more conventional heel:forefoot drop of 6ish mm. The ride is a little on the stiff side, but that provides a responsive toe off. If there has been a knock on the Green Silence, it is that the transition was not super smooth. Yet, the shoe still felt relatively quick. The Pure Drift has a zero drop midsole/outsole. The insole adds 4mm to the heel. It is more flexible and not cushiony, so it will feel more like being barefoot. In my opinion, that is fine, but it does not feel fast. Also, it is quite wide in the toebox.
They're as different as you can get. The burrito-style upper is where the similarities begin and end. The PureDrift is much wider in the forefoot, firmer, way more flexible, and flatter. I also agree with the last poster that they don't feel fast. They're light as hell, but I don't like them for speedwork. Strictly as easy day shoe for me.
Revising my earlier impression of the shoe. Not too fast at all, despite the weight. Very soft and loose feel to the forefoot when you try and hammer down in them. But surprisingly comfortable and responsive for longer runs, especially once the NavBand loosens up a bit. Going to alternate between it and the Kinvara for distance, sticking with the MT10/MR00 for speed work. Still don't have the best feeling about long term durability.
I just wrote up a pretty in-depth review, with quite a few pictures, if you're interested.
