not certain. those number names for each New Balance shoe get confusing. The heal in the New Balance shoes always seem to be too wide. NB is consistent in that department.
I bought a pair of these after good success with the 904 of which I had several pairs. The 1190 was a weird shoe, the heel had no firm counter, you could push the heel cup down easily it was really soft but the shape of it curved in to my Achilles and gave me problems. Whilst I loved the 903/4 I found them to be not very durable, but compared with the 1190 they were great! The 1190 was done after 10 days. The upper collapsed, the midsole collapsed and it was dead in under two weeks. I am 140lbs and relatively quick (sub 30 10k) and I was vv disappointed with this shoe to the extent that I wrote to NB to complain, their response was that this was a lightweight trainer and anything around 200 miles was a god return on it! I haven't bought NB since.
I currently wear the kinvara 2 ( I prefer it to the 3) and I can get 600 to 700 miles out of them sometimes more.
Thanks. I went ahead and got a pair of Saucony Guide 5 at a local store for a good closeout price, and also the new DS rRainer from runningwarehouse. Just a few miles in each, but I like them so far.
