On the East Coast for the holidays, flight back to LA arrives at 10:30pm on NYE. What to do so my New Year's doesn't suck (provided my flight is not delayed)?

There'a actually a ton of things going on:

I would go to Hollywood, the Queen Mary, or Universal Studios.
Leave LAX on Imperial. Drive to the 405, head north to the 101, then east to the 134-unless it's backed up-then stay on the 101 to the 10-because the 134 is ALWAYS backed up on New Years Eve. Stay on the 10 till you get to the 15-then head northeast through Vegas to St. George Utah-whereupon you'll discover that intelligent people don't refer to roads as "the" numeric descriptor. This realization parallels the realization that LA is a sh1thole-and you should keep driving to Interstate 70-until you get to Indianapolis or some such burg-which will be a better time on New Years Eve than Los Angeles-even if you don't get there until January 4 or so.
west hollywood. make sure you wear really tight pants and something with a rainbow hue.
