Thanks goodness a woman said it because if a man said it he'd be vilified for being sexist.http://spikes-mag.tumblr.com/post/37839258483/morgan-uceny-strikes-back-i-just-need-to-get-on-the
M. Uceny said:
"I think women are not as good racers as men. You don’t see men fall as often as women, or trip each other up. It is true. You can’t deny it, although I’m not sure why?"
What she said is 100% true.
As for it's why, let me tell you. I say it's because women never get practice running in packs growing up. The best woman is so much better than the average woman. A woman coming up through the ranks never runs in a pack.
The best HS boy - at least when he's a freshman or something - is getting beat by other boys. A similar aged HS girl can dominate even at that age.
When Uceny was at Cornell, she just dominated. Plus she ran the 800 and never ran in a pack.
From simiar logic, Alan Webb struggled with tactics for a while as he was so much better than everyone in HS, he wasn't used to running in a pack.
Even when he ran that 3:53 at Pre - he stayed in the back and then just gunned everyone down.
