For track season, I was planning on just wearing my Nike Free's 4.0 during my races (1600 and 3200). Do you suggest that I get spikes, and if so which ones (inexpensive ones, please)?
Thanks!

If you like Nike, you might want to stick with Nike. They have a fair variety of spikes to choose from.

I would get spikes solely on the fact that they are significantly lighter and not as awkward to run fast in. The "spike" part, doesn't come in handy until you're running on your forefoot. If you're racing slow enough to strike with your heel, your entire foot will have sufficient traction. I don't start running on my forefoot until about 70 seconds per lap.
TL:DR - get spikes for the lack of weight.
$45 Victories on Running Warehouse. Great shoes, price, and website.
So the current consensus is to get spikes? Can anyone else support or argue against this? Thanks!

+1, Vics are by far the best 1600/3200 spike, the drop in weight and increased aggression of the shoe will make you run much faster. I would totally recommend getting spikes, first time you run in them you will understand.
Matumbos are the best spike for anything 100 meter dash up through 10k xc.
I think they do help encourage proper strike.
