Truth?
I run through traffic. Rest, ain't nobody have time for that!
Sweet Brown!
Yep. I stand there looking sullen with my hands on my waistpack.
This is so true for me. My teamate last year would run back and forth while waiting.
Runners choose places where a stoplight won't interrupt their run.

true, only joggers run through residential
I once went running with this guy, pretty quiete sort of bloke. Got to a foot bridge over 4 lanes of traffic. He said race you and proceeded to run over the road dodging speeding traffic. Yes, he beat me although I was slowing to look over the side of the bridge to see if he got mown down
Now he was a real runner!

Truth as in "true that I read that on one of those poster pictures that everyone posts on Facebook"?
Yep.
Oh man. This is very true. I'll usually put my hands on my waist and stare down at the ground, analyzing useless details in the pavement.
I don;t live in a large city like New York or Chicago, but I have never stopped for lights. I just run down the sidewalk toward traffic, find my opportunity to make it to the median, and then run back at traffic until the same opportunity arises for the opposite lanes. Why would you stop and wait?

Why stop and wait? Because what you are doing is dangerous and stressful for drivers. Why can't you just wait?
At NYC in 2010 I was exiting the park the morning before the marathon and saw Gebrselassie exiting. In the few blocks from the park to his hotel, he jogged in place at stoplights at least twice.
Maybe joggers make up stupid dichotomies and runners just do their thing.
I agree.
I stop my Garmin at the stoplight, and I don't run an inch if I can't log it. If I don't stop my watch and run in place, the average logged pace will be worse. That's not an option.
I usually jog back and forth or on the spot whenever this happens to me during a run. Seems to amuse (or piss off!) training partners if it's a group run. Nothing to do with average pace or anything, just hate the feeling of having to stop/start all the time!
I would stop but not look pissed.
I just stand there waiting for an opportunity to cross.
Rarely would I have any tempo runs where I would deal with lights.
I usually have to deal with lights in a warm up or on an easy run.
So it's no bother to stop and wait and no need to be pissed.
I stop, and put on a happy face. Then i'll watch all of the soccer mom's break their necks whilst staring at me in my tiny shorts. It very comical to me.
I like to spit and stretch when I'm waiting at lights.
I find playing Frogger with my life to be a great deal of fun. Thus far I am winning.
