Can she make it there? Looks like she has all the talent in the world to do it.
Thoughts?

Maybe, but probably not. There are a lot of other women with talent in her potential events.
who knows?
she might lose interest in running when she grows up. you never know.
Looking at her stride and total concentration when she runs I think her event will be the Marathon. She doesn't have the foot speed to compete on the track at a world class level.
Marathoners usually hit their prime in their mid 20's...so that would be the 2020 Olympics....assuming she still has the drive and is healthy.
Lets let her run a few more races and mature before we put her on the oly team.
The game changes when she gets to college as she will soon find out.
Haha. No doubt a talent. But remember Julia Stamps, Kim Mortensen, and Jordan Hasey? Not Olympians.
College is another level entirely and to make the Olympics is another one after that. She was spent running 16:40 at Woodward and there's probably 100 or more in NCAA that can do that now so she'll need to go through them first.
If she dips down to 9:30's-40's for 3200 and then 9:20's-30's as a senior she'll be on track.
No doubt a real talent probably one of the best HS runners ever. But as many of said let her race in college and figure things out first.
Oh well there's always next year.

Yes, but does she have the leg speed velocity?

Is this true? What are her PRs for 200/400/800?
Can she improve to that level in 4 years? Female high school distance talents rarely do. She is a hell of a cross runner and crushing people without being an anorexic like Mortenson.
I think she has an upside. But probably marathon at the OLympic level. Like Cathy O'Brian.
Is she that runner from California?
Worlds next year, will we see her running at the US Championships?
lol lol lol lol wrote:

I don't know what her PRs are for those distances, but her 1600M PR as a 10th grader is equivalent to a 4:50 Mile. That's very good, but for that age group is not off the charts.
She has run 4:45 for the 1600 and 10:08 for the 3200. Although she looked to be in sub 10 shape. She ran 10:08 twice, the second was at the state qualifying meet where she looked very controlled and relaxed. A week later at the State meet she ran a 10:12 solo when it was 95 and very windy. I think she will make the world cross team in college. I think she would have a great chance in the 10k for 2016.
I'm a really close and personal friend of Sarah's. She told me over dinner last night that she would love to run in the olympics someday but she doesn't know about because she's nervous about it. I told her that can overcome a lot of her fears (there were some fears in other things we did but that turned out fine ;) ) She will eventually be in the Olympics but not 2016.
You put Jordan in the category of Julia Stamps and Kim Mortensen? Please, please....do your homework. If anyone is going to make it to the 2016 Olympics, it will be the young "EXPERIENCED JORDAN"...... the 21 year old Jordan Hasay, who will be 24 entering Rio. Just a Young-blood and experienced indeed.

She's very lucky in terms of age. She'll be 20 in 2016, 24 in 2020, 28 in 2024, 32 in 2028, etc. She could make MANY Olympic and world teams.
About the nervousness--she seems to be handling it very well, tell her to focus on small, doable short-term goals, and to develop other interests and skills so that if for some reason she suffers a setback in her running (illness, injury, loss of interest) it's not "the end of the world"...

Did she run 4:45? I see a 4:49 for her but nothing faster.
4:45 leg at either Arcadia or Mt. SAC Relays in April. I can't remember which meet it was though.
Everybody's gonna push her into running the longer races which she excels at but running and training for shorter races (but maybe occasionally running longer type races when really fit) will ensure a long happy career. Everyone pushed Deena into the marathon huge mistake to train for that year round.
No scholarship limits anymore! (NCAA Track and Field inequality is going to get way worse, right?)
