Do you get a benefit from a 20-minute run?
Of course.
Faster recovery due to increased blood flow, and activating the muscles in a low stress environment can help work out the kinks. Static stretching or myofascial release or PNF or whatever kind of muscle loosening floats your boat is great after these little jaunts. My roommate and I used to do 20-30 minutes at 8 minute pace on soft grass two or three times a week, in addition to our regular runs.

Breaking in shoes, fighting boredom, getting from point A to point B, increasing metabolism.... etc., ;)
