yup, bolt wasn't impressive at all. mo wasn't impressive at all. phelps didn't make history. damn, no major storylines at all what a let down
It started with the crapy opening ceremonies. I think that sets the stage for how the Olympics will be remembered.
Second, there was way too much coverage of swimming. This sport was exciting for the first two days, but swimming took over a week. I got so sick of watching that sport over and over and over again. Plus that Rowdy Gains announcer was annoying as hell.
Third, the track competition that I look forward to had no real excitement. No world records were broken, and the reaces were predictable and boring. Usually there is an athlete or two that becomes the face of an Olympic games, This one didn't have one.
Very little drama across the board. It was a lackluster games. I hope Rio is better. Olympics are getting boring. I think I enjoy the world championships of track more.
*Crappy. They were not crappy, looks like you just don't have patience.
"No world records were broken" - 800m DIPSH*t, I bet you didn't even watch half the track events. They were not boring.
Definitely not a lackluster games. If you honestly think the Olympics are getting boring, you have no place here. The Olympics come once every 4 years and they are not there to please YOU.

Yup, no white dudes won any distance running gold medal, at yet another Olympics. Boring..................
I'll tell you the real reason the track events all sucked, is they were fixed.
Maybe not all of them, but the men's 10,000 and 5,000 were fixed for sure. Morgan Uceny was paid to fall down or she would have won. The Kenyans were paid to lose the marathon.
Even with the 800, there was something up. Sure Rudisha was capable of 1:40, but most of those other guys weren't capable of the times they ran. I think Coe saw to it that they were all secretly given amphetamines just before the race, and that their dope samples were switched with clean ones in the truck.
British are dirty cheating gamblers and their gangsters can fix any event. I think it's because they invented boxing.

This. I got sick of watching swimming and sicker of listening to Rowdy G.
I was also pissed at the hype over Phelps being the "greatest Olympian". He has more opportunities to win medals than any other athlete.
They used to just cover the games and show all the sports.
Basketball in the Olympics is too much and they over did water polo.
The coverage isn't a fault with the Olympics though, is it? It's not their fault that NBC coverage is ridiculously parochial and limited.
This post is stupid:

WTF did you expect? WRs in every event? I dont know if you'ved watched much T&F but that's what a track meet looks like.
I cant speak for other events, but that's what track is, maybe the sport isn't for you.
No big drug busts...maybe next time...
No Alan Webb in the 1500.

Bad Wigins every post of yours I ever read makes me think you are a mentally unstable individual with some serious emotional problems.
I couldn't possibly agree more with DR.

Bolt is getting slower and older. Mo is a science experiment. Phelps only won 4 Golds. The athletes were let downs, but the games were OK.
London could have done a better job if they weren't so socialist/communist.

You're right, what I'm saying is that the Olympics were fine, it was the coverage that was lame.
Yep, the NBC coverage was lame. Actually, it was a travesty because they refused to broadcast many of the marquee track events live, at 5 PM Eastern time.
Many will agrgue it could be seen easilly on the internet but I wanted to see these events shown on a 52 inch HDTV as they happened.
There were many great moments in the Olympics and track and Field had it's fair share of them, but NBC screwed it up.
The next Olmpics in Rio will be an hour time difference so there will not be the same issue.
The opening and closing ceremonies were ridiculously over the top, but by all accounts the games themselves were run well and went as smoothly as can be expected. I've always been a big Seb Coe fan, and I think he came through once more.
The track and field events were great with lots of great performances - Rudisha, Bolt, Manzano, Rupp, Farah, etc. I was disappointed with a few (like the winner of the men's 1500, and the whole women's 1500), but on the whole there were a lot of great races. Even my wife, who doesn't have any interest in t&f enjoyed most it.
However, the NBC coverage was lame and except for Ato Bolden they need to get a new team of announcers before Rio.

Exactly. That one event was all that was needed to make it a great Olympics.
And watching it on the live stream over the Internet was great as well for entire venues.
