She got 25th overall?! WTF?!

I think she lost to two Americans. She will probably blame the weather (it was warm/humid). I think she entered this race un-prepared for a fast Half, thinking she could jump in during the middle of a build-up for a "tempo" effort. Back-fired.
shalane is mah girlll wtf

True that
I read that she took a month off after the Olympics, which would mean she has only been back in training for about a month.
Hot, sunny, humid- not good for white girls training out of Portland, OR
She didn't come and train with me like I had offered.
Results? Curious about Meg Krifchin.

She was 13th overall and first American.
Jerry Schumacher.

That certainly wouldn't have helped and for that reason (plus some fast Kenyan women) I wasn't expecting a podium finish in this race, but perhaps there is a little more to it than that. Her pace was slower than her first and slowest marathon and slower than those RnR Half Marathons that she sometimes runs as paid tempo runs. Injured or some other medical issue perhaps?
Hasn't been a great 2012 for her...
2012 has not been her year, but she will get it together again. Go Shalane!

So true she has done nothing but regress under the guide of Schumacher. She probably wish she did not burn bridges back to John Cook.
Who is the best marathoner coached by Cook?
Shalane wants to be a marathoner. Why would she run under a middle distance coach.
Schumacher is a great coach. Perhaps this country's greatest. Typical bashing post a subpar weekend by a couple of his runners. Memory isn't as short for all, as it is for most. His runners are on another level. Can't be that way all the time.
Does anyone else think that maybe Shalane and Kara training together was not such a great idea? All the both of them talked about was how hard they had trained, trained like they had never before. I know they are elites and should train hard but it seems like they both did better on less hard training.
I have always felt that top women always do best without female training partners. In this country at least, on account of the prima donna natures of our elites. Deena Castor typically trained with men, or alone.
Regardless she won a medal under Cook and never gave him the opportunity to coach her in the marathon. Who exactly has Schumacher coached in the marathon? And don't even tell me Shalane because the 2:28 high NY marathon was good but still 10 minutes off the american record.
She lost by 2+ minutes to Maegan Krifchin, that's what happened. Anyone else notice that Maegan is on the upswing?
