Saw this in the German news. There are similarities that can't be denied.
However, the shoe was announced mid-year and I think Nike announced their around early 2012, so about half a year earlier. From that perspective, I think ADIDAS argument sounds reasonable that this shoe has been in development since a long time, at least longer than half a year.
I would imagine how Adidas came up with this shoe is through knowledge transfer with a new hire that got recruited from Nike a couple of years ago. Then again, that's pure speculation on my part.
Generally, this looks awfully similar to the Apple/Samsung trial. Is knitting the upper of a shoe something worth granting a patent? Similar to having a phone with just one button.
