Mariem Alaoui Selsouli (MAR) will miss London Olympics as she's tested positive for furosemide at the DL in Paris. What a SUPRISE! #lifeban

Good. Maybe the athletes aren't nearly as slick at doping as many on this board think. If anybody needs more evidence than Twitter, Google News has all sorts of french and spanish news outlets covering the positive test.
this is her 2nd offence.
I would assume the word, "surprise", was out of sarcasm. What is more shocking to me is why she would be using an old diuretic such as lasix, rather than one of the newer acetazolamide derivatives (which to my knowledge have no identifying markers with the current tests, as well as clear metabolites faster). Very much a rookie mistake by either poor handlers or someone that wanted her to get caught.

yipes, who the heck are you? Maybe you want to keep this kind of thing to yourself.
Glad Selsouli is gone forever - that one was obvious. Does anyone understand this bio passport thing? Will it be used to catch people in London and the DL in 2012? Or is it just getting underway?

They've already gotten a few people using the passport. This is really turning the tide towards the testers. Someone using drugs isn't able to keep their internal chemistry at constant levels and eventually they will be found out.
it seems that the testers are really stepping it up this year. lots of positives.
I like this family .
Brother in law tested positive in 2004
So here's an interesting tidbit. Selsouli used to be sponsored by Puma. However, she was dropped immediately upon testing positive. So Selsouli serves her two year ban and comes back to the sport. Now just take a guess who sponsored her upon her return? That's right, folks - Nike!
Shocking, right? Of course not . . .
These guys are so on the wrong side of this issue. All they care about are the number of medals won at the Olympics and World Championships. How those medals are won is of no concern. That's why guys like Mark Block and Charlie Wells are still buddy-buddy with Capriotti, Starks and the other Nike sports marketing minions.
Oh, guess who else Nike sponsors now? Justin Gatlin.
Way to go Nike!
Now to get Cakir and Lakhouad.....

He picked them up after Paris earlier this month?

Probably because lasix is a very "strong"/effective diuretic, while acetazolamide has such a weak diuretic effect that its primary use is for non-diuresis (altitude sickness, glaucoma, pseudotumor, etc).
This is such a joke. I know for a fact that Moraccon athletes are clean. There is some sort of conspiracy going on and it needs to be stopped.
Not too late. I remember sending this mail in february to Robert:

Hi Robert,
In your recap from Karlsruhe meeting where you stated that: "Mariem Selsouli destroyed WC silver medallist Syliva Kibet(8:36 to 8:43)" Don't forget that Mariem Selsouli is a former doper as she was banned in 2009 for EPO!! Also she came back last september after the end of her ban and ran a 2:01 and 4:00 PR for 800m and 1500m; better than she was when she got caught... and now she ran 8:36 with the final 6 laps on her own!
Best regards"

The run from that cheat in Paris was suspect. Good riddance if it is true. These Iberians and Maghrebs dope with impunity. Everyone does dope but they just do it too openly, if you want to cheat do it with some class and tact
Morocco, Spain, Algeria, Southern French-Arabic people

India, Russia and the U.S.A. have the largest numbers of T&F athletes serving doping suspensions.
3 of 3 positive tests in the last week belong to Nike athletes. What is the official response from the sponsor? Lack of due diligence, coincidence or something else? What agents and coaches work with these runners?
