These Starter shirts from Wal-Mart are under $10 each. Has anyone here run in them? Are they junk that you get what you pay for?

I bought a couple of similar Starter shirts from Wal-Mart about 10 years ago and they're still good to run in. I would be willing to bet you'll at the very least get your money's worth out of them.
i like starter. has worked well for me, and holds up great.
Starter and almost any other company that makes "technical fabrics" use really crappy material.
The fabrics are basically a lightweight synthetic cotton, They may not absorb as much water as cotton and tend to trap moisture close to the body. The higher end companies (the exception being underarmor) make directional fabric that actually helps increase the evaporation and drying rate of the fabrics. Hence why the pores on one side are outside are wider than the inside.
...and the Starter logo/brand was so 15 years ago!

You'll get your moneys worth.
if you need a few shirts to workout in they will work just fine.
Don't spend 50 dollars on a workout shirt.
Have starter windbreaker type jacket with a cotton liner. Had it for years.
Great zipper. I have problems with a lot of zippers but that is the best zipper I ever had.
I like Starter and Champion.
This is right about the technical fabrics stuff. I've run a few road races where a big selling point is that they give away "technical tshirts", but it ends up being something that makes you feel hotter, is rough as hell, and stinks even after washing it.
If you want to find good running clothes for cheap, find a TJ Maxx or Marshalls. They have stuff ridiculously discounted like 40 dollars Nike shirts for 5 bucks, I guess because they're older models and they just want to move them any way they can.
IMO C9 by champion at Target is cheap and superior to Starter.
Agree to go to TJMAXX or MARSHALLS before Wallie world. You'll see some higher end stuff marked down pretty good. I picked up some rare NIKE stuff at Marshalls and spent under $15 for a windrunner jacket. I thought they had mismarked it, but rang up at $14.99!
If you thought they had it mismarked and didn't mention it, that's the same as shop lifting. Just saying.

No, it's not. If they label an item a certain price they have to sell it at that price, it's their fault. Last year I got a $125 pair of Nike sunglasses for $35 for this reason. They realized they were marked wrong but still had to sell them to me at that price. Now if you do something like change the stickers or switch racks that's obviously another story.

Care to explain why that is?

It's the law. You can't charge a higher price for a product than it is marked at.

No, that isn't the law.

Yes - it really is. This from the Fed. Small Business Admin:
"It is against the law to charge more than the advertised shelf price for a product. Stores that do may be subject to civil and criminal fines. "

Most websites have disclaimers stating that you can't hold them to any pricing errors. If the error is on the product in the store, it is harder to get out of it.
For those of you who think Walmart is a great deal, you are suckers. Walmart forces brand names like Starter to make crappy versions of their products in order to boost Walmart's margins and create the appearance that Walmart's prices are better than department stores.
Also, every race I run these days has given out half decent tech shirts. I have a stack of them at home. Can't remember the last time I needed to buy a shirt.
I'm going to need to see some sort of citation to something better than the SBA's website before I believe this. I don't doubt that in certain situations it would be illegal, but I have my doubts that the government would require a retailer to sell something that it had mis-marked for the sticker price.
Walmart is not a small business. You are in the wrong website. Try a larger website.
My truck had a worn starter gear-I went to my friendly neighborhood NAPA auto parts store-and they sold me a brand new one. Two bolts and two wire disconnects removed the old one, two bolts and two wire connections and ol bessie fired right up. Don't go to Walmart for auto parts-go to a specialty retailer.
Thanks for bringing us somewhat back on topic
