He just ran 2:05:02, scratching more than half a minute of his PR. Way to go!

Yes but only on the downhill wind aided course. Rotterdam is the fastest legal course of the world and he improved on his Chicago "real" PR. Which is impressive.
Geoffrey Mutai 2.03.02 aided Boston 2011, best "legal" 2.04.55 Rotterdam.
Moses Mosop 2.03.06 aided Boston 2011, best "legal" 2.05.01 Rotterdam.
Geb.Geb. 2.04.53 aided Boston 2011, best "legal" 2.08.00 New York.
Ryan Hall 2.04.58 aided Boston 2011, best "legal" 2.06.17 London.
Rotterdam 2012
Adhane Ethopia 2:04.4
Feleke Ethopia 2:04.49
Mosop Kenya 2:05.03
Unoffical off website viewing.
Rotterdam 2012
(correction)
Ashane 2:04.47
Lol... Haile is still faster than him. Feel really sorry for him not to go to London because of some injuries catching up to him.
Nevertheless, Mosop could be on for the WR in the future. His 59:20 PB may be no sub 59, but still impressive.
So, Makau's WR still stands - when will we see him race again? If he goes to the Olympics my money is on him. But Wilson Kipsang could be catching up to him, the Frankfurt race was SUPER impressive! Without the many turns late in the race he might have eclipsed the WR (is that correct english?).

Kipsang and Makau are racing each other next Sunday in London!
Oh! Always good to first check pages, then post! Looking forward to the next heavyweight battle on the roads (Wanjiru vs Kebede was maybe the best race I watched live, having followed athletics since 2007).

Haile is third fastest marathoner of all time on record legal courses. The trouble is he's not in that shape at the moment.
It's not quite accurate to summarize the Boston course as "downhill." The real factor in the fast times at Boston in 2011 was the tailwind. The Boston course *is* a net downhill, but that doesn't matter much when you consider the challenge of the up-hills. But it really confuses the matter when you just call it a "downhill" course. When Boston doesn't have a tailwind it's a challenging course. Don't believe me? Look at the winning times and compare them to the pancake flat courses. London, Rotterdam, Berlin, Dubai have consistently faster winning times, by a large margin, because the level terrain overrides whatever variance is in play from the weather on any given day. Boston's weather is famously variable in terms of temperature, humidity, and wind. The fast times in 2011 and 1994 were really the result of wind. They were also very slow in 2007 when there was a head wind.
I should also add that Boston's undulating course makes for interesting races. I'd much rather watch a race that is complicated by hills and turns than a ... yawn ... paced run on a flat course. No disrespect intended to the flat marathons, a marathon is a road race. When I want to see a flat race I look for track meet.
We all now that, but it´s still not a legit record course.
Of course it's not a world record, and should not count as such, but Boston's course has it's own history of times, which is at the core of the sport.

Well, thibnk U could do that....
I could, once, run, 2:05....for the 800 m :)
His PR is 2:03:06.Please don't give me that point to point, tailwind, downhill crap.
‘BIG ENGINE’ my ass!!! He ran more like ‘BIG BIRD’. I think that the Kenyans peaked too soon last year; the Ethiopians will dish our more ass whooping this year!!! Watch out for Geneti in London next week.
Ethiopians? Too much talk but little substance. Just one simple answer look at the "Statistics" . Even this weekend how many Kenyans won Big City Marathons compared to Ethiopians?
