Great! He's got as good of a chance as anyone to top the high school list this year!

Original.
That is a very legit time, especially for this point in the season. After looking at the indoor list, it looks like Turlip is starting to take a big step forward. This year has been very good in general for the D3 guys.
Matt Turlip is one of the most painful runners to follow. He throws down good times, shows promise, then chokes HARD at EVERY single championships. The guy ran a 3:45 last season and still got manhandled in the last 800m at nationals.Honestly, nobody likes a runner with no heart, no matter how fast his PRs are. (Unless those PRs are 1:43/3:30/3:46/27:30).What a waste of hard work and talent.

Wow. What a prick. I bet you ran 4:08/15:45 in your "career."
Aight, bro! Hope you win it this year!
Doesn't matter if he did, troof is da troof son.
To say he's choked at every nationals is definitely overstating it. He's just a good time trialer but doesn't have the speed to be in the mix in the final 200 of a tactical 1500 (I think his 800 PR is like 154 or 155). I believe he finished 4th indoors last year and maybe 5th outdoors, so thats not that bad. I'm kind of surprised he hasn't given the 5k more of a shot, but he seems to only be good at the 1500/mile. Who knows though, after opening up the season with a 346 this year could be different and he could really be in the mix.
Wow what a great time! Can't wait to watch him vs. Chris Brown at UAAs in Pittsburgh.
Nice to see you in here nick...i mean Former D3 guy.....

Nobody like an F'tard a$$hole like you who says stuff like this about runners trying their best.
Waste of talent and HARD WORK? Hard work and no heart don't go together. Who cares if he has never won nationals. He's shown more heart than most runners ever will.
Sorry but getting 7th at an early season meet at NC State doesn't deserve a thread.
If we can have threads about hoodies and the lottery we can have a thread about Turlip. I'd love to see him go sub-4 this season, but he doesn't usually improve much from early races.
Last year he went from opening in 352 a few weeks after than this, then went 350 before running his 345. Thats improvement through the season...
Wasn't he hurt after he did a 5k early last season? He had to run in the slow heat at UAAs, so I don't think he ran any 1500s before then (April). That race was pretty funny, by the way. NYU flew two guys down to Atlanta just to rabbit him to a fast time in the slow heat.
Where do runners from NYU train?

If that race turns out anything like the indoor mile did, then we may want to start referring to Turlip as "Rihanna."
At best, 6th at nationals. He is the worst tactical racer in the history of the world. Seeing that he has been competing for what seems like 6 years in D3, you'd think he would learn and take a race out quickly at nats.
would be much more impressed with a 346high if he had won or finished at least in the top 3. getting pulled to that time isn't an impressive feat at all
