LONG LIVE THE USA!
LONG LIVE THE USA!
this is letsrun. if he takes it out hard, dies, and comes in 5th he'll get blasted. if he sits on lalang, outkicks him, and wins he'll get blasted. if he leads from the gun, runs away from everyone, and wins but doesn't PR he'll get blasted. if he leads from the gun, runs away from everyone, PRs, and wins he'll get blasted.
it's a lose-lose for him.
he's doing well, keep fighting Chris!!
Splits?
Well if it wasn't for Kenyan's Chris Derrick would have won XC, and the indoor title in 5000, probably the outdoor title, etc. etc.
WOW!
Great race by Derrick. He really ran well. Congrats to Lawi.
Effin yeah Derrick!!!!!
Lalang was hurting at the end. Derrick's move at 300 to go almost broke him.
Derrick couldn't have run a better tactical race. Lawi was just the faster man.

Was Derrick hoping to outkick Lagat's brother?
How did the race go and develop?
first 1600 was like 4:29
i think they closed in like 7:59 for the last 3k. pretty much a long sustained drive form 1400 to go.

No, Sambu and Lalang were trading laps for the whole race and were 1-2 from about 600m to 4200m in when Derrick made a move with 800m to go, keeping Lalang from taking it easy for a fast last 200m. Derrick then made another move with about 300m to go to try to take the kick out of Lalang, but Lalang caught him with 200m to go and won by about 10 meters.
Sambu and Lalang were alternating the lead for most of the race. With 3 or 4 laps to go, Derrick took the lead. Lalang took it back, but they dropped Sambu in the process. Derrick took the lead again with like 300 to go, the Lalang passed him for the win with like 180-150 to go.
Chris Derrick was 7:54 for the last 3000, but ran 62.X from 1600-2000, so 7:53 pace for the last 3400
What are the altitude conversions for Lalang's and Derrick's times?
Was Derrick the only American in the top 10?
Subtract around 20 seconds for each time. So Derrick really ran about a 13:06. Not bad
I love you Chris. For a minute I was almost crying with the hope that your beautiful eyes would cross that line in first.
Much more than not bad. Derrick ran great--came VERY close to winning over the supposedly untouchable Lalang.
